During my time at WMMR (1983-1996) I hosted and produced "Street Beat", a show featuring local bands. Here is a show that re-capped the year 1995 in local music. These are mp3's so you could download to an ipod, etc.

The Happening

M. Night Shyamalan's new film "The Happening" opened Friday, May 13th. Like all of his films, it was shot in and around Philadelphia.

I worked five days in various scenes. After viewing a special screening of it Thursday night, I'm happy to say you can see me! In fact, here is the scene - I'm the one wearing the hat.

The Happening scene

The writer and director himseif, M. Night Shyamalan spoke at the theatre before the premiere and explained the film is based on the B Movies of the fifties, like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." The film "The Birds" is a big influence. The film is meant to be laughed at. You're not to be quiet - laugh and scream, he said.

Bricklin

The members of the eighties band Bricklin got together to honor their bandmate Jake Meyer who died on June 1st.

(l-r) Ian Cross came in from LA; he is about to go on tour with Janet Jackson as her producer. Eddie Bader who still lives locally, Jimmy Goetz in from San Francisco, Scott Bricklin flew in from France, and Brian Bricklin, also local, is currently Director of Music Training Center in Conshohocken and Ardmore. There's a picture of Jake on the easel on the right.

The reunited band played their song "The Sleeping Dream", Carole King's "You've got a friend", The Beatles' "With a little help from my friends" and "Doctor my Eyes" by Jackson Browne, among others, in front of family and friends at a funeral home in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Bricklin's hometown.

Don Felder Book cover

The latest radio special I co-produced is called "Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles by Don Felder." The hour long show features an interview with the former guitarist for the Eagles who co-wrote the songs "Hotel California", "Victim of Love" and others. It's the first book written about the band by a member of the band. The radio show will air around the country on approximately 200 radio stations toward the end of May 2008.

Bryn Mawr College

One of three films being shot in the Philadelphia area includes "Tenure" starring Luke Wilson. Some of the movie was filmed on the campus of Bryn Mawr College. I was in a scene here in April.

Apple storefront

Since becoming a Mac addict, I like to visit Apple stores in different cities. Here is the one in the Promenade in Santa Monica, California. I was there in March.
